Why am I starting this!

So let me jump in straight !

Exactly the way we start the Pod..

Here are my reasons of starting this newsletter.

I love reading books. I am not exactly a bookworm but I enjoy reading. I love MFM ,Shaan and Sam and I love the MFM community : my kind of people.

When I was wondering what can I do to get connected with my kind of people, I went in to classic Shaan mode of thinking 😀 😀

What I love, Can do weekly or bi-weekly , will help the MFMCommunity, make me more friends, will connect me to my kind of people.

Sam mentioned in Episode 611 the idea of having a BookClub that connects the fans of MFM.

he said this on the pod and I felt as he whispered in my ear.

Gaurav, its for you. This idea fits your needs. Do you wanna do it ?

And I said in our classic way,

Hell, yeah ! lets do this !!

Mohnish Pabrai mentioned in pod with Shaan that Mohnish bought the Charity Lunch with Warren Buffet because he felt he had learnt as well as earned so much by applying principles of wealth management by Buffet that he felt obliged to give it back in some form.

Mohnish made a 100x return from that lunch as he became friends with Munger and Buffet.

I am also doing this with a similar sense of gratitude. I have learnt enough from the pod that I feel my tuition fee is due and if I can help the community in some form, it will be awesome.

3. After you cross 40,your number of friends goes down

   I have fewer friends than fingers on my left hand ( exclude the thumb). Its not that I am an introvert but I think age catches up in many ways and this is inevitable. I refuse to be victim of age.

   Remember, no small boy stuff ever !

   So I said I will make new friends now but they cannot be anyone.

   I know where are my kind of people. I will find a way to connect with them.

    

4. Re-inventing myself

   I had a stellar professional career.I am a finance guy spent 20 years with amazing companies blah blah blah….

   Shaan and Sam have mentioned this in multiple episodes that one needs to apply Law 25 from the book 48 laws of Power: Re- Invent yourself.

5.  Time to do Fan fiction differently.

6. I learn faster when I write. It stays forever when i teach.

7. Instil discipline of writing in me : )

Secretly, I do hope that one day this newsletter is loved, absolutely loved by community and is massive and following happens:

1) this newsletter has 100% open rate, that means this one hour that Is spend every sunday is worth it.

2) I have friends in every country, I visit. My friends from other countries ping me when they come to India.

3) I get to be friends with Fans of Pod, Shaan, Sam, Andrew, Chris, Moiz, Bret, Anand, Suli and every friend of the pod is a friend of mine.

4) Dharmesh loves this kind of tinkering. He pings me for lunch when he comes to India.
